Mike’s Minutes - “Saved… Now What?” | John 17

Why doesn’t Jesus simply take us to Heaven the moment we get saved?

In John 17, Jesus’ prayer reveals that salvation isn’t merely about where we’re going when this life is over, it gives us a purpose while we’re still here. Jesus prayed, “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.” - John 17:15 KJV.

Sometimes we put so much emphasis on getting saved that we give very little attention to what we were saved to do. We confess our sins, trust Christ, and then risk treating salvation like the finish line, when it’s actually the beginning of a transformed Christian life.

Jesus continues in verse 18: “As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.”

We weren’t saved just to leave this world someday. We were saved to live for Christ in it today.

In this week’s Mike’s Minutes, we look at John 17 and the purpose Jesus gives His followers after salvation.
